Soft Light in Winter’s Darkness

2016 February, Soft Light in Winter Darkness.jpg

Three years in a row of warm winters might allow me to call the end of February late winter. This year we’ve got deep snow at my elevation of 1400 feet. That makes it feel almost normal—a friend said euphoric. Snow gives deepest winter lightness with reflected moonlight, low angle sunlight, and a chance to get outdoors to ski up a sweat! I love winter for all its darkness, snowstorms and fresh glistening air. Unlike many who crave more light, I'm an Alaskan who relishes the darkness.
