Cynthia Morelli 7″ plates

7″ plates with glazed interior and natural ash glaze on rims

Woodfired stoneware plates, fired in a stack of rim to rim and foot to foot. I can tell that these two were on top of the the stacks because the unglazed rims have been completely glazed by fire. Had they been rim to rim in the kiln, they would have dots around the rims from wad markings – a clay mixture that allows them to not fuse together with melted ash during the firing.
